Artist Bios

Graham Henry

Graham Henry was born in Duncan, BC. He is a member of the Cowichan Band of the Coast Salish Nation. Graham takes the Eagle, a prestigious and high-status symbol, as his family crest. He has an intricate carving style and is constantly making new and unique designs. Graham’s brother, Travis Henry, was his main teacher. He also worked with Patrick Seaweed a well renowned carver from Alert Bay, BC.

Travis Henry

Travis was born in in Duncan, British Columbia, Canada. He is a member of the Cowichan Band of the Coast Salish Nation. Travis is best known for his bold, deep, clean lines and highly detailed designs. Travis’ work is on display in galleries throughout the Northwest Coast, Japan, and Europe. He currently resides in Victoria, British Columbia.

Norman Seaweed

Norman was born on the Nimpkish Reserve in Alert Bay. He is Paddy’s older brother – one of eight children. He is a member of the Kwagiulth First Nation. He was also trained to carve by Lloyd Wadhams Sr. Norman is an excellent artist and carver with clean clear lines in keeping with the traditional Kwakwak’wakw style.

Patrick Seaweed (Paddy)

Paddy Seaweed was born in Alert Bay. His mother’s family is from the Village Island and his father’s family is from Turnour Island. Paddy was trained in jewelry carving by Lloyd Wadhams in 1978. He was always interested in drawing and from there moved into wood then into silver, gold and copper. Paddy’s pieces are highly sought out.
